I have a 93 E150 van, and I am woundering if any shorty headers will fit this? I see no listing for vans in any of the header catalogs, and was woundering if any car, or truck ones would fit? Any one try any thing? One of the reasons I am looking for headers, other that the HP boost, is that I am on my third right side manafold in 90k miles. If I have to change it agean, I might as well get some proformance out of my labor.
You should visit a local Ford dealer's parts dept., or a speed shop, and get a copy of the 2003 Ford Racing Performance Parts Catalog. They list a set of shorty headers for your 5.0L van. Part # is M-9430-T50.Suggested retail price for a pair is $299. Not cheap, but cheaper in the long run that to keep replacing stock manifolds. Hope this helps.
There is supposed to be a difference between 5.0 and 5.8L
Look up Flowtech shory headers ( summit brand) big-91627 $181 - made by Holley
If you use this set I think you have to weld on the EGR flange on the RH header ( I think it comes with the kit.) That's why I went with the Ford brand because everything was done. It is pricey though. But considering that cast iron costs $100 ea??
FMS-M9430T50 (summit number for 5.0 Ford $295) No picture but if you go to FMS-M9430T58 ( 5.8 model) you'll get the picture.
Only problem I have is tightening the bolts every now and then. I have to replace a gasket because It got a little loose once. I don't think I tightened them enough when I initially installed. I did it this past winter outside.
This is a very clean install. You'll be tempted to pull off your doghouse cover to show off to your stuff. But you know us E-series are like stepchildren in the Ford world.
I do have a question... I think my E4OD trans is very sluggish . shifts way too early. I think if you don't keep your foot in it it wants to get into 3 or 4 ASAP. I did put in a Banks Transcommand and it did help the shift points and soft shifts but my 89 Chrylsler NY has a better tranny that this. Unless I just need a rebuild? What are your thoughts?
I have a 96 E-150 and recently discovered I had cracked exhaust manifolds after searching for days only found one set of headers listed to fit and they were expensive. I discovered Econoline and F series used the same manifolds so I ordered a set of Pace Setter short tube headers for a 95 f 150 from Summit Racing and they were a direct bolt in. The clearance to the dog house on the passenger side was a bit tight so i fabricated a heat shield out of some old body metal. I am very pleased with how this all worked out. I plugged the air tube port with a 3/4 npt pipe plug. If anyone is interested I can Pm pics.
