When the truck is cranking, it works fine, once it fires up, goes to zero. I have MSD6A and the motor is a 460. 1987 F150. What do I do to fix this problem.
I need a tach so I can judge my crusing RPM's on the highway, as the truck now has too much gear in it (3.55's/8.8") and I think it's turning 3500 or so around 80-90mph. (C6 tranny)
If I put a 2.73 or even a 3.08 in it, will my milage go up a bit?
I do like a drag race every now and then, but I think I prolly have the torque to handle the extra gear....any input?
2.73s would be way to low, 3.08s would improve ur mileage but would kill you'r drag racing acceleration.

Is your tach. factory or aftermarket? I haven't messed with the trucks, but I know on 5.0 mustangs with aftermarket ign. boxes and tach's you have to buy an adapter for the box. My friend was wondering why his Monster Tach kept shorting out, and then I read you have to buy an adapter to plug the tach into the box. Good way for them to get an extra $30 out of you. I'm not sure if this applies to you, but thought I'd through in my $.02.
