Chevy and Dodge boxes are just a little narrower, so that kind of rules them out. We measured them one day when I was looking for one. That's why the aluminum tool boxes fit our Fords like doodoo, not wide enough to properly fit on the rails.
1973-1979 will also work. I was thinking of finding a factory top for my truck a few years back, but they are rare as hens teeth.
The same factory slider that fits the 1973-1981s can be installed in the Factory camper shell. With the optional gasket fitting around both slider windows, you can leave the windows open even in the rain.
Now when you say "camper shell" are you talking about this?
Because to me, and many others, that's a camper shell/cap/topper etc.
I know Ford called there plain ol' fiberglass CAP a camper shell, but are you looking for the regular fiberglass cap? Or what I posted???
Heres a Ford factory "camper shell" and they can be recognized by that round emblem on both sides, just behind the cab.
More like the bottom picture, a "cap" is probably the right term. It doesnt need to be "factory" , but that would be nice. The top one would be better , but i'm not looking to put that much money in one. I just need something to cover and secure tools and parts when were racing with the classicgearjammers.org while i'm towing with a open trailer.
Thanks to those that sumitted models that fit and ones that dont.I have a better idea when I call about a used one.
I only payed 300$ for my camper cap. But those are really hard to find, even more so in good shape! Luckily mines mint inside and out, but i've had to do an 18 hour round trip to go get it.
