TRANSmission froze last night (???)

---Or at least I think it was the transmission. Went to start it after last nights freezing weather...then went to put it in gear (it's automatic)...and it would not go...So I freaked for a little while...but left it running. I was jsut wondering exactly what did freeze? Are there ways to keep this from happening again? It's alright now, after letting it run for some time. But that was a hair raiser to say the least.

Check your fluid level, sounds like it's low.
