Thinking of getting one for my 67 F100, and have a quick question. There 28 spline right? And would I need to do a c clip eliminator? What's the point of doing the eliminator?
Been running a full spool in my '69 for 20 yrs now. Just have to watch how you drive it if you do go out in wet weather. It will be a handful. Mine stays on dry roads. Pushes pretty hard going around corners, even worse with only 4" front runners on the nose.
I was thinking same thing my self, for off road; prefer a Detroit but until I find one I'd Putin a cheap spool or weld it to be honest, but mine is 90% off road, 10% parked in my shop lol
Welding will fail in the most unopportune time. Mini spools are not much better with just that single pin driving two large wheels. Shock it one time and "snap", you're stuck.
Best bet for a non failing issue is a full blown spool. Not as cheap, but won't let you down someday later.
Yes, spools on the street are not alot of fun. Been there for over 20 yrs. It's not a daily driver though so I put up with the tire hopping, screeching while turning, understeering problem.
It's going in a weekend little street truck, it won't be driven much. Gonna be on the original street tires, no slicks so I wouldn't be putting much stress on it I think, and I will by the aftermarket pin for it. I just want a locked diff for those late night races or burnouts. Haha.
