Howdy Guys.....
I have a 1966 F-100 352 cu in and can't find a rebuilt distributor but I can find one for a 1969 360 cu in.......my research shows that ALL FE motors use the same distributor so the 1968 360 distributor will work in my 1966 352 cu in motor......Right?
Money is an issue so I can't go aftermarket and I'm not up to doing a junkyard duraspark retro fit so I need to just plug & play with another stock distributor.
Welcome to FTE Patriot, and Merry CHRISTmas,
I would go with it it,,, put them side by side before you put the "new"one in. Make sure you mark TDC on #1 also.
Any FE distributor will fit any FE engine. The differences will lie in what the internal weights might be when it comes to your mechanical advance. I suspect it would be a 13L and 18L if not mistaken from the distributors I have taken apart. If so then nice to know which advance was chosen. All my FE engines are set on 13L for 26 degrees of mechanical advance.
The next item would be the vacuum advance if the small canister type. Ford varied the timing advance through the use of washers, springs and that fiber rod inside the canister. Designed it for the application and engine. I have seen several different combinations when taking old ones apart. The large canister is easier to swap around since you can adjust it, with a small hex wrench, to your engine. I kept my correct small canisters and bought adjustable internals for them so I could adjust and still look correct.
