Would you all suggest I step down to the 4600 Series or look at the Rancho 9000s instead?

Hope everyone is enjoying their Christmas!
i went with the 4600's as well since i didn't have a lift.they are not a lower grade to the 5100's.call 'em up.

Bilstein has a pretty good site.If you measure your shock length then go there you will find several options I believe.I measured mine and got the shocks that the extended lengths and compresssed lengths were equal distance short and long from my measured static distance.I'm not sure this is absolutely the most correct method buy it made sence to me and works mice on my rig.i for the 5100s I also had to drill my shock mounts to 1/2" and replace the metric hardware with new grade 8 hardware.no big deal but the metric stuff is NOT correct.

A set of the 4600 Bilsteins are ordered and on their way! The best price I could find was $255.80 for the full set at ShockWarehouse.com, which included free shipping. I was also able to use "THEDIESELSTOP2012" as a discount code for an additional 5% off, which brought my total, including shipping, to $243.01. I thought that was pretty reasonable.

For the fronts, I ended up going with Part # 24-016179. For the rears, Part # 24-016186.

They should arrive about this time next week, so I'll be able to install them that following weekend.

Can I swap the shocks out with the truck on the ground or am I going to have to jack up each corner and pull the wheels off to get it done?

Thanks again for the recommendations!

You can do it with the truck on the ground. Rears are a little hard to compress to get into place. I used a ratchet strap to compress the shock, put one bolt in, then cranked tha ratchet 'til the other end lined up, put that bolt through and then removed the strap. Hit the bolts/nuts with some PB-Blaster or Kroil now, while the new shocks are en route.

+1 on the selection; we're very happy with them on both '95s.

Bringin up an old thread!

I cant find anything on the bilstein website and the shockwarehouse didnt have anything for a 97 f350 4x4 with a lift.
Ive got a 4" Tuff Country or Rancho suspension lift. Cant recall at the moment. Anyway I have some paperwork from the PO that the shocks were replaced... He put the lift on.

I need to call Bilstein directly tomorrow to see if they actually offer 5100 series for lifted or what they would recommend.

Anyone on here have any suggestions?

I have ordered some but I haven't received them yet so I am not sure if they fit. I put part numbers up in another thread.

Yeah I had read your thread and looked at those PNs in shockwarehouse.
From what I gathered from their rep when i emailed for 'more information' they said it works with stock ride height. Not for a 4" lift.

They said there aren't bilstein 5100 series for a lifted truck.

I did find these... which are the same color scheme as my current ones. I just forgot to check what brand was stamped on em.
I know the springs are 'tuff country' and the PO said it was a 'rough country' lift... Ill have to get my stuff straight when i get home after work.

I hope I didn't mess up! Mine arrived today. From what I was able to find on the bilstein site it seemed as though I was heading in the right direction. I will measure mine and post the numbers.

I have pulled the shocks out of the box and they look to be the right ones. To busy at work to do much more than have a quick look.

On another note the truck has a four inch lift not six.

Got them! from eyelet to eyelet (bolt to bolt) on the shocks. The fronts are 22" and the rears are 25"

Let me know what you find! I never thought to search shocks by eyelet length.. i just figured it varied since that is what it is under load... Dont shocks when in relaxed state have a few inches either way?

I dont know much about em i guess.
