So I'm trying to talk the little women into going...but I have a question for the people that went last year. When towing a camper trailer did you need to put it into four wheel drive? I want to drive the truck and bring my new 28 ft camper trailer but being two wheel drive has me a little concerned
If you stay close to the hard pack and air down your tires on the truck and trailer you should be fine. And if you do get stuck there won't be a shortage of those of us with 4wd to pull you out
Agree, air down & arrive during low tide and you'll have no issues. Then before finding a resting spot, walk the route you'll drive to make sure there are no surprises. There are plenty of videos on YouTube of ways not to do it.

Exactly. And if you have a trailer and plenty of quads or anything like that it helps to unload before getting into the soft stuff. Had a guy get stuck one year, hooked four trucks to him and it wouldn't move. Wound up he had 8 quads on end in the trailer. Unloaded em and the truck was pulled out no problem.
Does the truck know it is not a 4x4? It sure looks like it is.
Jim
it knows its not but doesnt like it....its got a 3 inch lift on the front really leveled it out good. the lights come in handy when i get to my camp site it the desert at midnight...
Thats the part that worries me...but wont have any quads or such this time around if i make it.
just in case you want to see:
Far be it for me to volunteer anyone that's going, but another option might be for someone with a 4x4 to meet you on the hardpack just before heading into the dunes (if that's where camp ends up being set up), unhitching your trailer, and letting them pull the trailer in for you.
