I came across a good dana 60 front end that I got out of a 93' one ton.
It has the correct gear ratio I need(4.10) to match my rear in my 89' f250. I would like to know if there is any fabrication needed to swap my fisher price front axle for the solid one.Or is it just a bolt up deal?
I also have new brakes on the floppy front and I was wondering if they will carry over to the one ton axle. Will i need to lengthen or shorten my driveshaft too?
I haven't delt much with the Dana 60's, But It should be a direct bole up. The 89 and 93 frames should be the same length. Now the question is will you need a lift kit, or F350 springs to clear you crossmember. That I cannot answer.
You should be good on the drive shafts length wise, I'm not sure if they have different U-joints. your best bet is to just rob the drive shaft out of the 93 and use it.
If I was me, I'd get the complete Dana 60, the steering for it, with the suspension and drive shaft. with all the you should be good to go.
I have the f350 front springs and I am going to use them as well as the tie rods off the 350 too. I do not have the driveshaft off the 350 unfortunately. Will the one that I have on the 250 work? I would think so
-the axle
-F350 front springs and drivers side u-bolt plate
FULL steering linkage(including F350 pitman arm)
Track bar and track bar bracket
Some have gotten away with using the F250 driveshaft, I but everyone I have done(about 20) have a bad vibration and needed the F350 cardian shaft and companion F350 t-case yolk
