Like to do a little survey here about 65-66 door seals. I'm not going to lay it out real fancy. Just a few questions and a 'small' post explaining how you feel about the brand you bought and how they fit. You don't need to post your name if you wish that. Info is fine. Yr you bought them can be important since suppliers can change over the yrs.
Here we go.....
-Name of company you bought it from...?
-Supplier for that company if you know...?
-Cost if you remember...?
-What yrs you bought them...? (very important)
-Short explaination of how they fit/ problems/ solutions...?
1965 F250
Bought door seals from LMC..the rubber is made overseas..it is a hard rubber...doors were not even close to closing properly...ripped them off...and bought seals from Dennis Carpenter..( as per the advice of this forum) the seals were of a much better quality as far as how the rubber was joined etc.
1965 F100, bought new in March 1965 / Door weatherstrips genuine Ford, purchased in 1983, went on without a hitch, as I followed the instruction sheet that FoMoCo included.
info is in post 2...bought from LMC... installed them...then tore them off and threw them out...they sucked...
bought from Dennis Carpenter...much better..still tight closing..but better quality..all around..
I have installed two sets within the last several years. Most recently this summer. First time I did not remove the doors, second time doors were off. If you have the option the door off seems to work better. Both sets were from Carpenter. I also bought and installed the anti rattle set, whiskers and gaskets. Very high quality product with no fitment issues. Wash the gaskets in soapy water to remove the mold release chemical and the glue will hold better. Use wire wheel to remove the old gaskets and be sure the surface is clean and dry. Blue tape helps hold the gasket down while the glue sets up. Not difficult at all. First set bought in 98-99 last set bought in 10 or 11. IMHO!
I'm the same as NumberDummy in that I found two sets of very nice NOS door seals to use and they fit fine since they were FoMoCo. A little tape to help set and a little tweak to the door latch and doors closed fine.
Purchased From: LMC Truck
Supplier: LMC Truck
Cost: $ 49.95 plus shipping
Year Purchased: Dec 23, 2012
Fit? Don't Know Yet....sounds like I may have to send them back!
LMC truck. Purchased December 2012. I installed the driver side door. Used double sided 3M tape, with the door removed. Initially could only get the door closed one click. But after sitting in the sun the next afternoon can get door closed by slamming. I'm hoping it softens up.
Bought mine from Dennis Carpenter, I installed them with the doors on and it is a little bit of a pain. I lack on patience for such tasks. They were a little hard to close hat first, I slammed the doors the first time, and left them in th sun for a day, and they are great now.
On another similar note, I bought anti rattle kits from LMC, and the fit horribly. I will be buying DC wipers, and door channels this spring.
Bought mine 20+ years ago from Dennis Carpenter along with the front and rear window seals, vent seals, anti rattle kit and wipers all still in perfect shape, no cracking and have not all dried up. Going to buy new door seal due to repainting the truck and it,s easier to use new(doing a complete color change) hope the quality is still as good as it was then.
