I have a 2004 F-250 with over 311,000 miles on her. With that many miles on her, she started wandering down the road as if she was a hound dog trying to find a scent. After looking around in on this site, I decided to go with Red Hat Steering gearbox as a replacement for my steering gearbox. The gearbox took care of most of the problem. However, it wasn't only the gearbox that impressed me, or the care they took in their quality control.
I went back to ask several questions I had. Not once did the people at the desk or in the back working area act defensive nor did they get an attitude or place blame. The young lady at the desk simply looked into the concern and answered my questions to my satisfaction without arguing or getting defensive. She honestly took my concern and dealt with it as if it was her own. These people care about their customer's concerns. They handle problems as if they understand what it is like to have problems and need answers.
Red Head has better prices than their competitors, not only rebuilds, but improves the gearboxes, and has employees who honestly cares. It was worth the drives (from an hour and a half to three hour round trip) through Seattle stop and go, rush hour traffic to do business with them. I HIGHLY recommend Red Head if not for the quality work they do, but their customer service.
ive only read one prolem thread where a guy bought one and had it installed and it wouldnt work. Something with the gears stripped or something, other then that i see only positive threads about Redhead???
I put one on my 08 Ram 2500 and it made a huge difference in the way that truck steered compared to the factory junk. Red Head is a very good company to deal with and really do know their stuff and care about the customer.
if i could get a group buy here in NJ id buy one last year! With 106k on my truck the wondering is starting to get somewhat of a small issue, tweaked the adjuster bolt on the steering box again so i should get another year out of the box before it needs it tweaked again, I HOPE
