On a 53 to 56 frame, is the lower flange of the frame at the very front (in front of the front crossmember) in line with the rest of the frame?
Or, to put it another way, would the frame lie flat on the floor if it didn't have spring hangers.
My frame seems to have a severe droop near the front, just doesn't look right to me, but i have nothing to compare it to......
In the factory shop manual it appears to be all in one line.
Based on the chart, and depending on the model, it does appear the front frame horns are lower than the rest of the frame. If we're talking about your f100 panel frame, the top of the rails are 2 3/4" lower than the rest of the frame. You can measure the height of the rail sides in the dropped area and again behind the front spring, calculate the difference, and whatever the difference is besides the 2 3/4" is how much the drop below the plane is. ie; if the front is 3" tall and it's 6" back farther, then the drop below the bottom plane of the rails is 3/4". Hope this helps.
LOL, i wish, i haven't been able to touch it for months.
Earning a living keeps getting in the way, but i have been buying a few more parts along the way as i go.
I have been busy with a customers 1951 Ford Thames truck, a 32 three window and some other smaller jobs.
But, i am managing to get some time in for the next week or two so maybe i can progress enough to post some pics.
And happy holidays to everyone on FTE, the best bunch of old Ford truck nuts on the planet. John
