Failed WARN Premium?
I was in the middle of replacing the front brake pads on my '91, (how the HELL do you get those stupid pins out?!?), and I decided to pull the cap off the hub to give it a look, (for the past few months it's been next to impossible to engage, and when/if it did engage, it didn't seem to do any good). After giving it a few turns I found the problem. The ring that's supposed to ride up the threaded center post when you turn the handle, doesn't. It stays at the bottom of the cap, which means it's not actually engaging. I'm of course ****** about this, since they're relatively new, and supposed to be bullet proof. Not that big of a deal, but what in the world would cause that to happen? A bad batch, or something I did? (not unthinkable by any means). I'm gonna go pick up another set when I can, but I'd like to prevent this in the future, any ideas?
Thanks guys.

How old are these hubs? You might want to contact warn directly and tell them. Their premiums are bulletproof. That tells me that you might have gotten part of a bad batch, or whoever assembled it didnt get his morning coffee before doing yours . I dont have much to tell you about stopping this from happening again, because I have never had a manual hub crap out on me.

How much did the conversion from the stock hubs to the Warn hubs cost you including labor? The reason that I ask is that I am in the situation that I am more than likely going to have to switch and I wanted to know how much something like this should set me back.
Thanks

How many screws are on the outside of your auto hubs? 3? 5? 6? My warn premiums cost me ~$80. If you have the 3 bolt hubs, you will need to purchase the spindle nut conversion kit. That goes for about $40. You dont need to bring your truck to a shop to have these installed either. It takes roughly an hour and can be done in your driveway.
