18" wheels

I have a 2001 F150 4X4 with 265/70/17's and I was thinking about going to an 18" wheel, do you think I could get 285's under it without having to do a lift?

Yes, as long as you use a tire with the correct aspect ratio. If you go with a little lower profile tire on the 18" rim, the overall height of the tire will be the same and you shouldn't have any clearance issues. A good tire shop will know exactly what size you can get away with.
