I don't have the details on the installation, but last year I picked up a Eaton Truetrac open box deal from diffsonly.com. It included Timken carrier bearings and shims. I had a person with better knowledge and the right tools to install it for me. "AK F10.5-A - Axle bearing & seal kits for Ford 10.5" rear" from diffsonly.com costs $141.31. "This kit includes Timken inner and outer bearings and races along with high quality seals." Not sure if this is exactly what you are looking for, but if so, hopefully it helps! Also, not saying this is the best price or the best place to order from, but I had no complaints with my order with them.

Those are for the axle (aka wheel bearings) inner and outer, I think the OP is doing the carrier and/or pinion bearings and seals?

Thanks for catching that. I looked up the wrong bearing kit there. The carrier bearings I used were "CK F10.25 - 10.25" & 10.5" Ford carrier installation kit". That included the bearings/races and shims only. $151.68.

Nice,,,, so if I tackle it,,,, It could b a couple hundred???? I think knowledge of it would b worth that. Even if I end up having to have someone else do it in the long run.

Does anyone think traction bars would help the next set of bearings last even longer???? Can't complain tho,, 598k.

Anthony,
You will need a dial indicator, dial torque wrench and
the tools to help you measure side-play. After I emailed
you last night I got the workbook out. The job can
be done at home with the tools. You will find a small
press will be very helpful.
I did find that the workbook had the info spread over
many chapters and did not get you the PDF yet.

Building diffs is a relatively simple job. A good rebuild manual is your best friend.

For $700 on a truck that you use to make a living, pay somebody else to do it.

I hear ya all. As for the fluid,,, Mobil 1 full syn LS with no friction modifier,,, changed every 100k,,, Faithfully. I actually got out my 3/4" drive socket set n hit the pinion nut again. I replaced the pinion seal a couple hundred k ago, and I'm sure I didn't get it to 400+ftlb. I tightened it until I thought something was gonna break,,, n it seemed to tighten up (for now). So, I will keep an eye on it,,,
