fuel pump pressure

my truck has been running like its running out of fuel lately, symptoms including: rough idle, surging at cruise speed, high idle, idle speed surging, basically runs like crap. I also notcied while accelerating through 2nd gear the truck tries to ''run away'' for a sec, i then let out of the throttle and continue to accelerate. I think the truck is starving for fuel, thats what it feels like at least.

I plan on checking my fuel pump pressure tomorrow. Im going to check it from the hard line from the fuel pump to the filter housing. How much pressure should I see?

I cant remember what the exact pressure is, but i would expect 5-7psi. You can check at the schrader valve. Ya what youre descibing sounds like its sucking air / starving for fuel.

6psi is the best pressure I have tried. You get the most out of your pump.

Fuel pressure can cause your symptoms, but so can air intrusion...
