The guy I bought her from said the a/c needed some freon and a belt. First of all, I am a young guy who has NO idea how to do this so I need help lol. Where do I get freon and where do I put it in my truck lol. Also, if anyone has a belt in good condition for a/c please message me, I've gone to Autozone, O'Reillys, and even advanced auto parts. Autozone and Advanced employees were complete *******s, O'Reillys just simply didn't have the belt. And I do not have a Junk Yard that has a ford like mine. Thanks. Its much appreciated.
Sounds like you're in way over your head. You should take it to a shop and have it looked. AC systems never "just need freon". It tends to be more complicated than that. Freon doesn't get consumed, it leaks out. So if it needs freon somebody either let it out or it has a leak that needs to be repaired. Either way it needs to be evacuated and recharged. Plus from the factory it came with r-12 freon. They haven't made r-12 for 20 years or so and its hard to come by and is big $$$$. Cars now use r-134a. A r-12 system can be converted to use 134a and maybe yours has. If so, lucky you, it will be easier/cheaper. I would be very suspect of the belt being missing. Usually people take belts off accessories to mask a problem. I know why my compressor belt is off. My tensioner pulley squeaks like crazy. Long story short...I would ask around to find a reputable shop and have the system evaluated

The guy who had it before me took it to a shop and they said it just needed Freon and a belt but they kept on sending him belts that weren't the right size.
Just a note they make drop in refrigerants that are completely compatibly with a R-12 system. No R-134a conversion need. One that I have had real good luck with is called hotshot (R-414b)
I've topped off both of my R-12 systems with R-134a and haven't had any trouble at all with them. A mechanic I know in town said he's done dozens that way without a problem.

If you came into my store like a few have and just said "I need a belt" and not have a clue as to year or engine ...... you might get the feeling I don't care much either.
What engine ... and is it a '77 as your screen name implies? Factory AC or dealer add on? It all makes a difference.

First of all, I was very descriptive by telling them I needed a 1977 ford f100 custom factory a/c belt. Second, stop assuming stuff. Tends to **** people off.
I asked you what engine ...... I was gonna give you a belt number, being the helpful type that I am.
As to assuming .... I didn't ...... just saw what you said about parts people here and asking for belt help and providing no info .... you appear here just like those I described.
'77 F100 with 351M w / AC .... looks like it's about 55" long & 0.531" wide V belt for the factory inst AC.
Goodyear # 17550 or #17551
Gates #17560 or #9560
Dayco #17560
Duralast #17560
Roadmax #17560AP
Just a few I came up with at Rockauto.Live Catalog
At the store, I'ld be offering a Dayco or Driveworks belt. If you look at the catalog .... you'll see why some have maybe gven a wrong number.
Like others said ...... might be a good idea to have a pro look it over and advise.
