Unbelievable... I was driving through downtown Indianapolis when, while on the interstate, I hit a bump in the road and the whole front of my truck shook to the point where I thought my front end was coming apart. I've experienced the death wobble before but this was ridiculous. It scared the crap out of my 3 yr old. I was driving 55mph and had to slow down to 25mph to get it to stop. My truck is a 2011 F250 with 27,500 miles. It's going to Ford in the morning. Bs considering its a 60k truck. Does anyone have any info I can pass onto Ford about death wobble issues? Thanks
Mine appeared with about the same miles you have, went away when I got new tires. I know, I know, tires aren't supposed to be the problem, but it went away.
Later I got a new dampener. New shocks, never occurred again and I now have 136,000 on the truck.
The 60 large comment is garbage by the way. It would not be acceptable on a $10,000 truck either.....

I guess I'll just have to spend another 2k to get what I should've gotten to begin with
Not necessarily. There are tsb notices out. You can play with tire pressures, rotation, and make warranty claims on shocks and steering dampener. I will search for the TSB # and add it when I find it. You still should be able to get 40k out of the factory tires, just need to play with things.
Do a search in this forum. There was a lot of discussion on this topic a year ago, maybe more. Some guys had the caster adjusted beyond what ford allows with the stock hardware.
I don't blame you for being frustrated but I get tired of the "$60,000 truck" thing. People use that term too much. Sorry, good luck.
Thanks a lot. Your right. I hear the 60k thing a lot too. I do love my truck but I was just shocked at what happened today. For a second I thought I wasn't going to be able to control the truck. It was like nothing I've ever experienced. Thanks again for the link
Have the dealer to the TSB for wheel oscillation. Then upgrade your shocks and stabilizer with Bilstein 5100's. Yes, that is BS that you have to upgrade out of your own pocket on a newer truck. But the ride quality will improve and it will settle down your truck. Prior to this happening, did you notice that the steering wheel would jerk when going over uneven roads at high speed?

I have noticed. It's actually a feeling like the front end is real light. I have a set of new bilstein 5100 shocks because I'm going to add bigger blocks and a leveling kit. The shocks are for a leveled truck and not stock height. I was really hoping to get 35k miles out of these OEM tires before upgrading tires and shocks.
This was my truck when it was stock. It doesn't do this near as bad anymore (new shocks, stabilizer, tires). This is definitely not death wobble, but it shows how crappy the factory components are.
Ford paid for three alignments before the problem went away on my truck. Caster adjustments. I never had the death wobble, but I did have the loose, light steering and it would wobble when I crossed a bridge abutment or a wrinkle in the road surface. All better now.
