Check with our site sponsor, Riffraff diesel. Coolant filters are pretty easy installs and theirs has a good mount. I used baldwin filters but you could use fleetguard, napa or whoever you like.
Yep...this is the one that everybody I know runs. Always a debate on the filters. But when I bought mine I did the comparisons on the unit, hoses, connections, etc. and found it hard to beat the dieselsite model.
Riffraff sells the one that is made by Sinister. Uses Wix filters. Not sure about the details on dieselsite, they aren't a FTE sponsor and I try to get things from site sponsors first.

Dieselsite is a sponsor of the 6.7 powerstroke section on FTE.
I have the Sinister By-pass and it works great. I also bought a case of Wix 24070 filters. They suggest changing the first one after three months then one every year.
While your at it; get a new Stant (10238) Degas Bottle cap. I got one for about $5. I also tested my factory cap and it would not hold pressure (let go at about 9-10 psi). The new one held all the way to 16-18 psi then let off. Saw a video from PowerStrokeHelp.com on You Tube and he says its the best $5 bucks you can spend on a truck.
One of the things I am planning to do with my X is to install a coolant filter. I have looked at several different cooler systems but they seem to use T fittings to connect to the engine. What puzzles me is how does this work? I could see if the heater hose was cut and one end went to one side of the filter and the other side of the filter went back to the heater hose, basically putting the filter in flow of the water. With T fittings the water has the choice of going into the filter or taking the less restricted path of the hose.
It's a "bypass" filter kit. I forgot the exact details but after like a minute or something it has filtered 100% of the fluid. They do it this way because if the filter got clogged it will still let the coolant flow through everything. If all the coolant went through it would back up and not let the coolant pass.
The pressure differential between the heater hose T and degas bottle T(where the filtered coolant dumps), allows the coolant to flow through the filter. The bypass systems are very effective.
