My 2013 F350 just arrived. I had started buying things for it the day I ordered it and the Edge CTS was one of them. I used it on my dad's 2012 F350 and it worked great. Tongiht I plug it into my new 2013 and it asks me if it's a Ford, then it puts the gauge screen up, says loading then turns off.
If I touch the screen it will reboot and do the exact samet thing. I have updated to the latest version using Fusion, but no change.
Do I have to wait until Monday to call Edge support or do any of you have another suggestion?
I would call Edge on Monday to see if they have a per request firmware update.
Once they add the update to your account, don't run the update again or you'll get the public release reinstalled.
I talked to Edge and they acknowledge that they are having problems with the 13's. They are working on an update so basically I'll have to wait.
They suggested setting the unit to other rather than Ford and that most of the PID's should work. I won't have my truck until Wednesday so I guess I won't know until then...has anyone else ever tried that?
Hey, just thought I'd let everyone know what the word from Edge was. Here is the response:
After speaking with the engineers, it looks like we are still a ways out on that product. They have found that the computer is going to be a tough one to work with and the development will take some time once that process has started. I would say we are several months out at the least.
Well, I wouldn't worry too much about it.
There was no reason to think at least a few of the options wouldn't even work.
Even the 2010 model year config would show a few of my temps when I ordered mine too early.
It seems like they made it where only Ford's IDS can check for codes if the Edge can't read any of the data from the OBDII port.
This makes me wonder if Ford doesn't even want us looking at their OBDII port, much less checking with a code reader.
They'll eventually get it figured out.
They may even offer a per request pre-release firmware update.
That's what they gave me (I'm guessing) before the firmware went public.
They added the update to my account when I called for a one time download, you just don't reconnect the device or it will download the old 6.4L firmware (at the time).
...until the update is public at least if there are any changes.

The CTS reads codes just fine. Thankfully I have only had use for this feature once, but it did read the codes and cleared them on command.
Well all manufactures went thru this Bs back in 94/95 when it was mandated all had to go to obd 2. so everyone had same codes and anyone could read them.
They cannot stop this again as the independent shops whould be put out of buisiness. Epa is pure Bull Crap. As far as watching a PID i don't see a problem. other than they probably changed the values and limits on some parameters, due to the prior years. just wasnt that reliable, seems as though they had a very bad problem with modules communicating with one another. Maybe they will get it right this time.
Hey, just wanted to update everyone that Edge sent me an update for my CTS for the 2013 and it works. I know they have been saying it will be a few months, but I asked for the update so my unit would turn on with the truck in the cold and they sent me an update for the 2013 as well. Nice to have it working.
