c6 C6 FLOOR SHIFT CONVERSION HELLPPP
HI!!!I just picked up buckets and a console from a 79 Cougar to install in my 78 GT.I got all the pieces and shifter stuff as well as the proper floor shift column.The only problem is my car has a C6 but the Cougar did not and I cant seem to get the shifert just right no matter how I adjust it,my dad made me an extension arm for the trans to move the shift rod further from the pivot point and this helped some but it is still one detent off from the shifter to the trans position. For Example:the shifter is in drive but the trans will be in second,or the ****er is in neutral but the trans is in drive.Ihave all the factory ford service manuals from the 2 cars but still cannot fix this mess and really need my car back on the road soon.Any help would be appreciated.What I really need to know is if the C6 and the other trannies used different shift rods or not.I have no other car to compare with but I know the Tbird LTD2 and Cougar were all pretty much the same car as far as this goes and if someone has one maybe I could get a few pics before the rest of my hair falls out!!!!!!!!!
