How hard should it be

I just did a teardown on a 79 302,installed new rings and did a valve job,Now the engine is hard cranking,how hard should it be to start?

How hard should it be

It'll be a little stiffer than a worn engine but shouldn't be too hard to turn over. Did you check the gap on the rings? Did you clean off the new paint on the ground cable connection at the block?

yes the specs on the gap came out good,I will check the ground again.Thanx
