Hello, a friend gave me a new shifter ****, which will he will be painting custom (its a frankenstien head, with the top of his head is a a 4 cyl flat-head engine) and I need to make a mounting hole.
I know these shifters are splined on, but I am wondering what size is the end, to either smooth and run a die over, or make an adaptor that slides over and has threads to mount the new ****.
Edit; I didn't read your question very well. You know it is splined and wanted the diameter of the shaft. That I don't have, but just pull the stock **** off and measure it. You have to pull it off anyway to install the skull shifter. I like the Skull, but what would really be fun is a Curly Howard head from the Three Stooges.
Here is the low buck replacement **** I made by drilling out a baseball, then squeezed a bunch of glue inside it and jammed it over the shaft. Has been working great for a couple months now and I love thte feel and size:
