Plugged fuel filter could do it. Any other symptoms like smoking, overheating, hard stars after its been sitting?

Could have an air intrusion problem. How many miles are on the IP and injectors? Any of the return lines look wet and do u still have the stock water seperator hooked up?

You r due for an IP and injectors most hrere will recemond them every 100k as they r both wear items. I do not think that is your current problem tho. Simple test for air intrusion is after she sits overnight take off the fuel filter. If it is full to the top you are good if not then you have air intrusion. But I would first swap the fuel filter and go from there that may clear it up.

i had this same problem when i first got my truck it started off as a quarter tank problem how it would run out of fuel than it turned it alternating power levels than it died a couple times and fuel filter light would come on anything after 55 or hard acceleration i had bought a new filter nothing changed disconnected lines from tank and from tank selector and blew them out and tons of plastic came out????????my thought it was parts of the old pickups but i had to buy a new selector clear lines in tanks drop both tanks etc never had a problem since

Yeah, it sounds like you may have a leak on the suction side of the lift pump. Inspect the line along the frame and check your fuel level... above half should be plenty even if the shower head is broken off in the tank.

Yeah the shower heads already busted off and the po just put a piece of rubber line on in place lol. And I dropped the tank not to long ago to do some modifications go the filler neck and there was a piece of plastic in the line ill have to check that aswell, suppose I could see if it does it with the rear tank just so happenes I haven't used that tank since this happened, ill also chech the lines I smell some diesel under the hood so ill check the lines to ghe fuel pump

Tank/Fuel pick up. Where to start?

I wonder where to start? I guess it would be good to look at lines and tanks. I know both tanks were completely full. Mine has a skid plate below tanks to protect them. I guess it is best to drain fuel otherwise it is like wrestling an 80 pound jug of unstable liquid over your head. Can line be cracked open somewhere and a drain line be routed to a container or do you just prepare to try dropping it full? I wonder about working just past the selector. If unhooked there can you switch front to rear to start and stop flow? Maybe this would be a good way to check flow from tanks before guessing about the need to drop them.
