Hi All, I have really crummy tires on my 89 Bronco. My 83 suburban has really good ones. They are the same size, except the suburban's are light truck LT.
Can I swap them without problems??
I know almost nothing about tires.
Bruce (Big Red Bronco)
"P" tires are "Passenger" car tires and "LT" tires are "Light Truck". The only difference (besides tread pattern, etc...) is the LT tires are usually more of a heavy duty design meant to be used with a heavier vehicle. You wouldn't have any problems. In fact, the Bronco will probably handle better with the LT's because they aren't as squishy as the P tires.
You have P's on your bronco? Yes, you can swap them. You might notice a little bit stiffer ride, but its well worth it. They are more durable, can carry more weight, and are designed for trucks and SUVs. Whats the brand of tires you are running now?
Check the LAST number in the LT tire size: if it's 15 (15" rim), they'll swap, but the rims won't. Different lug patterns. You can learn a little about tire sizes near the end of my post in this thread.
