Have you checked the spare? Or a sensor in one of the tires is bad.

In the 2011 models at least, the spare does not have a TPMS sensor.

I changed my rims I have a King Ranch f350 2012 and the 20" rims/tires. The replacement tires cost 400-500+ each ( it was my fault i did a lot of high speed runs on I-10 got up top 153 per gps and the tires started too shred/blister. Since the were 20" it was cheaper to get Fuel Octane 18" rims and BFGs. and they only go up to 65psi on the size i selected (TPS wanted 80lbs) the nice people at the "speed shop" i go to tuned the key on and off and floored it (engine off) a number of times and said there now i just turned them off for you so you may want to search for that method of deactivating the TPS as I was told it was sensitive to a 3 lb difference between the tires which seems a bit ****. but if you want the name of the shop PM me and i will give it to you but I bet if you search for it on here or the web you will find it .......Lance

Lance,

Are you saying that you have a 2012 F350 King Ranch, and you reached a speed of 153MPH, per your GPS, somewhere on Interstate 10? Am I reading that correctly?

You need to run your tires up to 80 psi, run around the block to reset the TPMS and they you can lower them to 65 psi and they light will stay off. If it is coming back on, you have dropped below the threshold that trips the TPMS, which I think is 62 psi.

I just had the same type of issue. Mine turned out to be the spare. It was at 40 psi. I know you said your spare doesn't have a TPMS sensor but it is worth a try. Just my .02 cents.

I thought that the TPMS was based on the recommended psi on the inside of door sticker. Mine is 65 front 80 rear. And I thought the TPMS threshhold was set to allow a 10% drop from those numbers. I could be wrong though.

Also there is a procedure in the owners manual about retraining the sensors if airing them all the way up does not work.

Lastly, still waiting for that other guy to chime in about doing 135 mph in a SD, LOL

If he's tuned I could see it. Not factory.
It's limited by the computer with stock programming.

Well he said 153, not 135. Yes the PCM would have to be tuned because of the factory speed limiter. I think the engine has the power to do it, but it would be suicide because the suspension, damping, potential vibration and harmonics are probably not going to work well at such a high speed. The chassis just isn't made for it. Heck, that's probably why it has a speed limiter in the first place! Can we say 49MPH hop squared?

That high 40's hop is bad when it starts, I couldn't imagine if it hit at 100.
Although I've been 90 and things were fine.

The TPMS is based on the recommended maximum tire pressure for your vehicle. On the Superduty that is 80 PSI max and the TPMS threshold is somethng like 77% ( you will have to look in the manual for the exact %) But it's basically anything below 62 psi unless it's been programmed for something else.

I had all my tires checked and all were set to 65 psi from the factory. The tire guy bumped my rears to 80 because that is what the door sticker said they should be at. The rears have been at 65 with no issue, so I assume all the sensors are set to 65 psi. Had the spare not been down to 40 psi, I assume that the light would have never come on. This whole system is new to me. Back to the OP, did you figure yours out yet?

If you are empty, there is no need to run the rears at 80.
With my OEM tires, I ran the rears at 68 and the fronts at 75 empty.
62 PSI is where my TPMS would alert so that's why I chose 68 to prevent it from alerting as often during big temp changes.
When I hooked up to the heavy trailer, the rears went to 75 or 80 depending on weight.

If you run the rears at 80 empty, not only are you going to jar some bones loose but they'll wear in the center.

The dealer can reprogram the TPMS for you to a lower PSI. Had mine reprogrammed to 60psi on all 4 wheels. Some dealers wont do it. I had to sign release papers and pay $50. Nice thing now, is that they dont need to be reprogrammed after a tire rotation.

Definitely dont want to be running 80 in the rears empty. Not only is it a rough ride, it will wear out the tires in the center pretty quickly.
