I have a drivers window on an Aerostar that gets "stuck" when lowering. The front part drops right away and sticks, you have to put pressure on the rear portion to keep it level. The only thing I can figure out is that the rubber moulding is worn in the front and gotten kind of "grabby" as some of the fuzz is worn off. Does this sound right? If you keep the window level, it goes up and down just fine.
You need to remove the door panel. Inside you will see how the window operates. By winding the window up and down you will soon see the problem. The operation is very simple. The window runs in two channels. The regulator (hand crank) does the lifting.
Actually I have been through this many times, having even replaced the crank mechanism to no avail. Can anyone tell me if there is some type of lubricant I can use on the weather stipping (asuming it will help)?
What seems to really be the problem with Aero windows is the rubber track wears out and the glass shifts a little and that's what binds it. The lube helps the shifted glass move but it only a temp fix.
