leaf spring shackle bolts
I'm changing the rear leaf spring on my truck, (it's cracked) and I can't get the bolts out of the shackles. They are seized in the bushings. I took the leaf spring assy off the donor truck without a hitch but ,mine won't budge. I got the nuts broke free. Any ideas/tricks of the trade? I'm committed to taking at least the rear bolt out for I have been using the beating on the nut and it is mushroomed out. Can't get the nut off to replace it until I can get this bolt free.

No dice on either of those suggestions. My ball joint press isn't big enough to put any kind of adapter on it and get it to fit. (press is too short)

i only had the 4 or 4 1/2" wheel and it wasn't quite enough but the torch finished the job along with the BFH good luck.

I'd lower the jack some--you may have too much weight hanging from the leaf spring bolt. Let the tires touch the ground a little.
