intermittent sensor problems

i drive a '92 f-150 ext. cab with the 5.0 v8. i have been having some intermittent problems for several months and am still not able to find the problem.

first - the car will run rough sometimes, the check engine light comes on, and the trouble codes are for the manual lever position sensor and the throttle position sensor. both codes deal with voltages that are outside normal range (122 and 634). i have cleared the codes a couple times and they both return. when this happens the car has the feel of a bad TPS...kinda jerky and sometimes stalls at stops, etc.

second, when i turn the key to start the car, there is usually a few second delay between the click of the starter relay and the starter moter actually kicking in and starting the engine. and lately, this time delay has evolved into the car not starting at all...i just get a click from the relay and then nothing. if i come back to the car later it will start right up....very elusive this problem is.

i am thinking that it is a bad connection but i have no idea how to go about locating/fixing this problem...especially since when i dont need the truck it is fine, but when i am in a hurry it acts crazy.

my questions are:
1) is this a bad connection and how do i find/fix it?
2) if its not a bad connection...what is it and how do i fix it?

thanks so much for any help or advice you can give me.

I don't know what a manual lever switch is, however I would suspect your TPS is going out, which you allready know since you have gotten the code.

The starter selenoid appears to me to be going out. I've been in that situation a few times, and have almost been stranded with it. I would suggest yanking the starter off and having a ford dealer or autoparts store test it.

If my opinion is correct, I would highly suggest biting the bullet and buying a Ford starter, they are the best and will last just as long as the original starter did. These aftermarket cheapies DO NOT last.
