I have a 1993 F350 4X4 diesel five speed. I want to know if a five speed from a 1995 2 wheel drive F150 gas is the same transmission. Will it bolt up to the transfer case? Or is it a completely different animal?
the f150 likely used the m50d tranny, which is a light duty gearbox.
your f350 used a ZF 5 speed, which is a heavy duty unit.
even if the f150 used the zf, which is possible but unlikely, the bellhousing won't match up to the engine, and the tailshaft housing is different. IIRC the output shaft of the transmission would have to be swapped out for a 4wd unit, which requires a complete teardown of the tranny.
Ok thanks. Thought I may have found a transmission in a truck I was buying for body parts anyway. My transmission does great except sometimes it jumps out of reverse when I start releasing the clutch. It pulls good once I get it to stay in gear.
