Hey guys my GF is looking for a Super Duty big cab. mayby 3 or four door. I know nothing about them. I am very old school. So don't flame me to bad if I don't get the terminology just right. Just hope I can do it well enough to get by. LOL.
She has 6K and of course want's the best bang for the buck. I am into classic's. So I don't know where to start looking for this. With our location Craigslist and e-bay didn't turn up much. We can get one from most anywhere down the west coast. She said it has to be a manual and can be a diesel. Any one have anything or could point me where to look?
Really guys I am out of my element with this one. Any help would and could make me a very happy old man. She is 18 and I am like almost 60. So her being happy is a good thing.
I am not sure if this is the right place to post this or if I am over stepping forum rules. If so just tell me how and where to post this or move it there. Thanks.
If shes only 18... make sure she has enough for registration, insurance, fuel, taxes, and some extra money in case anything requires immediate attention. i dont think a super duty is something you can just "jump into", these trucks are expensive to run and maintain, so make sure she is fully prepared for all that
I got the money covered. Although she works hard and makes over 20 bucks an hour I can help cover her if need be. She's a damn good kid. I am just trying to get her away from the Toyota's she has been driving for 4 years. The cost to keep them running is crazy.
If you think the cost of keeping a Toyota running is high, a well-used SuperDuty in her price range (as in "lots of miles") is really going to be an eye-opener. These are great trucks, but not cheap in any way, shape or form. Price out brakes or ball joints or a clutch sometime and then compare it to her Toyota and see if you can afford it, because those are all common wear items. Then there's tires at about $1,000 a set for stockers and less than stellar mileage on a day-to-day basis to consider. I don't mean to be a buzz-kill on this, but be realistic going in to avoid being sorry six months down the road.
Ya this is what I been telling her. glad I was on the mark on this not knowing anything about them. But I do understand maintenance.
Sooo. She is back to looking a yodas. Got her Eye on like an 06 4 Runner. Again it has lots of miles. But the 01 she has is soo used up.
Quite a difference between a mid size SUV and a HD truck, maybe you should be looking for an Explorer in that year range as that is pretty close in size to a 4 Runner. I believe they had independant rear suspension at that point but could be wrong and they are very nice machines as well. Don't get me wrong as there is nothing wrong with a 4 Runner.
