Oil Warning Light

I'm writing about my 66 F250 Camper Special, with a 352. Last summer I had some work on it, including having the water pump and radiator replaced. Afterwards, whenever I would drive for extended periods, at idle the oil pressure gauges would bottom out and the oil pressure warning light would begin to flicker. Tapping the throttle to raise the RPM would result in the pressure gauges coming back up and the light going off. After driving it across country like that, I ended up having extensive work done on it, including replacement of most gaskets and resurfacing of the mating surfaces for the intake manifold, and exhaust manifolds, which solved all my oil leak problems, but I still have the pressure problem. Any ideas? Do I need a new oil pump, or...?

If the engine lower end hasn't been rebuild most likely is excessive bearing clearances. What grade of oil are you currently running?

Whatever the shop that did all the work for me put in - there's nothing on the paperwork, so I'd guess 10W-30. It hasn't leaked or burned a drop of oil since.

Only way to know for sure is do a test and put a known good mechanical gauge to actually see what pressure is. Just to know if sending unit is working properly.
