I have a 2001-F250 V10 430 rear end. Was wondering if anyone has had this problem. "When I started truck there was no oil pressure and the idoit light came on. I shut engine off, checked the oil and the oil was fine. Temperture was about 60 degress outside. Checked for any oil leaks and did not have any. Started truck again about 20 min. later and counted to about 8 seconds and the oil pressure came up. Went to Ford dealer and he suggested changing the oil again even though it only had 2000 miles on last change. Has not happened again. Curious to know if anyone else has had this experience. I just can't believe it was the oil, the oil was clean. Could have something have got caught from the suction side of the pump?
I am really enjoying this board and the help I get.
This is just a guess, but maybe your anti-drainback valve in your oil filter was faulty, and the oil pump had to fill the filter before the pressure would rise enough to indicate adequate oil pressure
I'm sure the other genius' here will have THE answer shortly :+
Definitely a strange problem. For now, Outpost22's guess seems pretty reasonable. Keep an eye on the pressure "guage" and if it happens again MAKE the dealership take a look at it.
Vic, my idiot light comes on for approx. 5-8 seconds after she starts. Now the pressure guage shoots up to normal the second she starts. I figured the pressure gauge is alot more accurrate than the idiot light. If the light came on and stayed on I would be concerned, but I just figure she needs enough time to build the pressure to get that light out. Larry
