oil consumption

my 96 is using oil rather then leaking it. dipstick flange repaired and not leaking anymore, anyways I have consumed 5 quarts of oil in the past 1000 miles.

my question is where is the oil being burned? injector seals? turbo? worn engine?

240,700 miles

I was shocked to see the dipstick oil level was bellow the hatched area after 3 weeks of casual driving, before that was at the bottom of the cross hatched area which says add 2 quarts

Check you fuel filter and see if it is all black and if the fuel in the bowl is discolored. If so you might have bad injector o rings.

I came to post that exact thing lol. Does your valley look dry? Have you done the ccv mod? If so, did you run it over the brake booster before running down towards the rear?

I had a superduty that did this, injector O rings fixed it, like said already look at your fuel filter, mine was black

240k seems young for rings or leaking valves, I would think its something else, yes it could be a turbo seal.

what type of symptoms do you have though? my truck also had a bad injector ( I think) I was having very hard starts, and lots of blue smoke

It smokes blue from start up and not so much as it gets warmer. Smokes alot at 1800rpm + towing or not. I gotta clean the garage before i can bring it in for the fuel filter.

Also, my ggauge says bellow 8psi boost while towing a 6000 pound tractor with a skid seer trailer at 50-60 mph.

Hard to replace injector seals?

No just make sure you seat them correctly.

I decided to do mine on a work night like a idiot and found myself awake at 3 am(ran into other problems) half asleep seating my injectors and ended up with worse oil consumption and smoke...

long story short I ended up tearing a ring when seating them

check your down pipe for oil residue. Could be a blown turbo...
