power seat bug

This is really trivial but its bugging me. I have a 2006 F350 Lariat. I have the 6-way heated power seats. On the driver's side only, the seat will now not operate with the ignition off (i know the heater function works only with ign on). It is not only the forward/backward control but the seat and back adjustments also. It is only recently that it will not work without the key on. The passenger seat works all the time, with or without the key in the accessory or on position. It is not an intermittent problem. There are no other problems with the seat(s). Any ideas? Thanks

Have you had any work done before you found this problem?
The seat should work at all times.
Have a look at the seat plugs and look for some wire chafing.
It is sounding like a broken wire in the seat.
Do you have the SIR seat? if you do pin #7 (Dark Green) should +12 all the time
Pin #1 (Yellow/Light Blue) should be ground
If not SIR then pin #4 (Dark Green) should be +12 all the time
Pin #8 (Black) should be ground

Get a DMM (Digital Multi Meter) and check the voltage KEY OFF
and then check the resistance KEY OFF. Should be less than 10 Ohms closer to 1 or 2.
The way to check the voltage it by back probing the connector. Use a small bit of wire
on your probe to get into the back side of the connector and clip the other end to a
good ground when you do both tests
Also check fuse F2.112 it's a 30 AMP
FYI the passenger seat is on it's own fuse F2.114 30 AMP
F2 is the Central Junction Box at the drives left knee

Front center seat integrated restraints (SIR)

Let me know how this goes.

Thanks. I will take a look at it tomorrow. I did check fuses (manual shows #112 & #114) and both are good. Looked quickly for broken/frayed wires and found none. Need to find out what you mean by the SIR seats. I have the Captain's chairs. There are several connectors, even one that appears to have a block type fuse in it that i will check. Thanks again

SIR is this type of seat system and with the buckets I think you don't have them
Front center seat integrated restraints.
No center seat so I would guess no SIR.
You will have a seat heater relay under the drivers seat and two smaller
connectors for the heater on each seat.
Let me know how it goes.
