I can't tell how serious some of you guys are being about this, but I KNOW one thing. Cavitation is a definite problem if your coolant is not maintained properly... I had to do an engine swap at 200,000 miles because the original owner didn't maintain the sca levels in his engine. Tiny pin holes ate through one cylinder wall. When the piston went down, it sucked water into the cylinder.... Hydrolock.. You can bet I monitor the coolant in the new engine.. I don't want to go through that again.

See im worried because i have a veey slow coolant loss going on...my motor wasnt maintained until i got it lol. What are the levels supposed to be at? I got the test strips from napa to test the levels but idk what theyre supposed to be at.

how hard is it to pull one of these 7.3's on a OBS?
is it easy to pull the core support? and can it be pulled out the front with the turbo still on?
I had some other work I was going to do, (I had to repair the rusted radiator support) so I just pulled the whole front clip off. Put everything right out there where I could get to it easily. Pulling the engine and putting it back was rather easy. Yes, I Put the turbo on (and everything else) sitting on the garage floor. Installed the engine complete.
wow well the dually didnt turn out how I wanted, not in good shape, I'm having a really hard time finding a nice OBS stroke with less than 220k miles, have a $7700 budget.
I've found a few nice gassers but not sure if I want a 460 its tempting when theyre so much cheaper and have less than 80k miles
Figure 12 mpg at best with those 460s and that is a dang good day when they do that. My diesel gets 14-16 so I really can't say much about awesome mpgs, but I know my truck has big tires and is way heavier than stock.
I'm going to go back and make a second offer on the dually, just asking too much for what it is, gonna go tomorrow morning and wave the cash under his nose and see what happens
I would just keep searching. I found one today with 272k for $2500. New trans has 15k on it. Said it needed a oil pressure sensor or something. Trying to get my brother to buy it. Lol
The company I work for put 4 wheel drive in the cc duallys they purchased. Put a Dana 60 up front when doin it. They also put a PTO in them to drive the winch and capston. That's where my truck came from.
