Post '91 Aerostar E4WD

My wife and I are looking at getting a '91 XLT electronic 4-wheel drive Aerostar with 107,000 on it. It seems to be in good shape and we will be giving it a good looking over before finalizing. I have been checking every where about Aerostars and possible problems. The one question I have is this, does anyone make manual hubs for these units? I would like to have some control over when it is in 4-wheel. Or is the system good enough not to be a concern. I will be putting around 600 mile a week on it.

I own an identical unit. Engine and transmission wise it has been bullet proof to 218,000 miles, just on TLC and routine maintenace. This is not an off road vehicle, just an outstanding van to get throug deep snow, sand and mud. There are no manual hubs needed or available. The transfer case is electronically controlled. Buy with confidence and enjoy. You will not find a more versatile vehicle than the Aerostar.

Thumbs up '91 Aerostar E4WD

We were also looking at a Explorer but after what I read on Edmunds we will be trying for the Aerostar. Would not be off-road, just like to know how they hold up. Has gotten pretty good reviews anywhere I've looked.
