ok so i have a 96 f250 xlt 7.3l 5spd powerstroke and recently have had a series of unfortnient events, has basicly left me with a truck that is not running. started off with me trying to save a few bucks and change my own glow plugs seeing that i am at 213k on origanal glow plugs, and with that i am a little new into diesel mechanics but it what end up happening to spark this enire problem is when i zipped off the passenger valve cover the dip stick holder that is located inside the pan fell in due to the treads bing warn away from all the vibration and the years of being there so i removed the engine re did the oil pan. after that i dropped the motor back in the truck and it started up but when i press the gas petal the check engine light comes on and stays on until you let off the gas what could this be please help

It may be as simple as the IVS on the go pedal is stuck ...
I would recheck all your connections an make sure they are tight. Did you get any codes? If you have the ability I'd look at the data log while your reving it at see what's going on.
see thats the thing i cant rev the truck and its not throughing any codes i replaced the gas pedal assembly from a parts truck i had but god knows it prob didnt work so i ordered one from napa im still waiting for it and i was going to replace the ecm as well im just at a loss
Did you try to unplug it and see if it does the same thing obviously it won't rev but will it run the same and not throw codes? I'd also check your fuses you could have popped one an not realized it. Is it doing anything else different?
you know i just went out side to the garage after you said something about the fuse and i checked around under the hood nothing then i looked inside and looked down to fuse number 3 that is labled idle validation switch and i was going to put an airdog on the truck and had left the runner cable still in that slot with a very small amperage and the fuse on that cable was poped so i replaced it with the correct fuse and turned key and pressed the go pedal and no check engine light batteries are dead so i update you in the morning hopefully its what it is
If you're getting a wait to start light when you turn the key on, the PCM is probably fine. If the check engine light came on, there should be a code. I agree with what was mentioned above. It's probably the TPS or IVS. You shouldn't need a whole pedal assembly, just replace those swithes on the assembly you have. Make sure the flat blade end of the shaft that turns the TPS is engaged correctly into the slot on the back of the TPS. I've had that shaft slide toward the pass. side a little and allowed the end of the shaft to come out of the back of the TPS. The check engine light comes on because it's giving a code for the TPS voltage is out of range ( below minimum). When that shaft comes out of the back of the TPS it lets the TPS rotate back to stop and puts it below the minimum voltage range. I would check that first.
