So one of the things I wanted to do with my Insight was to monitor my EGT at the manifold before the turbo, that seems like a problem. It appears as though that is not an easy task, I'm I missing something? I have not come up with a plan to do that without removing the EGR system and using a port on the cap that plugs the EGR off.
The other question is with the DPF load. Mine is hanging in there about 79% to 85% and my Soot level is 2.85 and it moves up and down some also. Does that sound about right? The gauge also states that my truck has never had a regin and that my DFI fluid is 100% full.

Hi Tim, I believe the DEF only registers at certain levels, 100, 66 and 33 I think. I can't comment on the soot load as I never watch that, but 2.85 is high, your truck should actively be trying to regen at this point. It's not uncommon for it to fluctuate a few points though. Not sure on the never had a regen thing, I don't watch that stat either. There is no easy way for pre turbo EGT's that i'm aware of, about the only way without removing the EGR is to drill and tap the manifold, which has it's own set of challenges.
I checked it out on my way home from work tonight and it is at 2.43 I was just winging it this afternoon and made a mistake. I'm not opposed to drilling and tapping the manifold but it is not that big of deal so maybe down the road at some point. On my 97' with the 7.3L it was easy to access the manifold, on this truck...... Not so easy.
I have not found the avg distance between regens to be very accurate. At least not what is displayed on the Edge. I hear it only updates when the truck is started. So any regens in a long drive will not affect the avg. I removed this display from my monitor. It just was not usefull info to me.
The soot % is a good PID to display and should start a regen around 2.70 -2.75 number and regen will usually continue until the soot % is reduced to about 1.15.
With a little practice you will learn what are normal temps at your EGT1 or EGT4. And true they are not what you used to see as manifold temps on your old truck. They can still be an indicator of what your exhaust temps are. The engines are programed to defuel if the EGTs get too hot and as long as you have not reprogramed your PCM, you should be safe at any temp the computer allows. My EGT1 usually tops out around 1050° while towing and the EGT4 will exceed 1200° during an active regen.
Has anyone noticed if the red light is still coming on when the regen is occurring. Mine doesn't any longer, don't know if it's a software or hardware issue. Running the latest firmware (updated it this week).
I called Edge this last week and they set me up for a download that allowed the insight to work with remote start. Prior to the download my Insight would shut off after a remote start and I would have to unplug it and plug it back in to make it start up, now it works fine. Yesterday my truck went into regin just after I left work and the red light did come on lasted about 10 or 12 minutes and my soot % dropped to 1.25.
Sorry for bumping an old thread but my Edge has the same problem when I use remote start. I get in the truck and the screen is blank.
If I touch the screen it will come on about 50% of the time. The other 50% of the time it either does nothing or lets out a long beep (10 seconds long) and then boots up like it is the first time setup...asks me to confirm it is a Ford etc.
With this special update from Edge that one of the posters received, what was the change in behavior? Trying to figure out if it is worth calling Edge or not...
The R should be on all the way thru a complete regen. On highway usually 9to 11 miles.
Where is this shown? I have yet to have anything but the popup notice that disappears in a few seconds to alert me to a regen on my 2012. I always wonder whether it is complete or not.
