I am about 3k miles into my new 2012 F250 CC PS and have heard enough from the DW about having issues backing up. The reverse camera is probably the only thing I didn't get added to the truck and of course here I am having to put it on after the fact.
Anyway, I was crawling around the rear of the truck looking for the wiring harness and I can't seem to find it anywhere. All around the spare tire, down the side of the bed, etc. Aren't almost all of the trucks wired the same and just the components are left off? If this is the case, does anyone know where its stashed?
Anyone dealt with this? Maybe someone can take a look and see where there camera hooks into the harness might give me an idea of how long the camera cord is.
How about a factory diagram of the rear end showing the camera/harness area.
Look at the harness running upto the tailgate. Maybe from behind the light. Just thinking if the factory camera is in the handle, it would be bundled somewhere close to the left taillight.
I'll crawl under my truck tomorrow morning and try to determine where mine is located. I know on the bottom of the tailgate, there's a plug on the passenger side, but from there (under the truck), I'm not sure where it heads off to.
I'm guessing if you don't have the nav unit nor the rear view cam in the mirror, you won't have the cord running to the back, but I'll take a look tomorrow.
My 2009 is very basic. I'm thinking of adding a backup cam. I'm looking at the wireless ones, so I just need to get camera power and ground. I figure I can get them from the trailer connectors. If you cant find what you want with the factory harness, this may be an option.
Good find! That link has the following image, which I've copied here in case the link goes away, and someone in the future is looking for this same info.

Sorry for not replying sooner. I looked under mine earlier and there's 3 or 4 different plugs on the inside, drivers side portion of the receiver hitch. Part of the camera wires come off of these plugs, although it's difficult to determine which one as it splits off of a larger loom. I also have a plug directly behind the bumper in the middle, where it actually has a cap pulled off that looks like the backup cam wires plug into.
Thanks all. I have eyes on the wire bundle that the camera wires should come from and with that, I am going to head up to the dealership tomorrow and crawl under a few SD's. This should give me the best location for tapping into the wires and getting the ball rolling on this.
