diluted oil

new, love the site i hava an 88 7.3 and the oil looks diluted its greyish black and thin on the stick when warmed up the oil is brand new any common causes?

There are two areas where other fluids enter the oil commonly, the lift pump and the oil cooler.

Does the oil smell like diesel or coolant? Any sign of oil in the radiator?

Coolants good and the oil is rotella 15/40 I haven't driven the truck much yet as I just got it. It sat for the last couple years. I also have a 92 idi
