I'm ready to lift my Excursion a few inches. I would like some opinions on my ideas. I was thinking of a couple ideas...
1- A complete set of new F350 leaf spring packs
or
2- A 4 inch lift kit
Now I am thinking of beefing up the rear springs a little because I tow a trailer and I want a little more in the rear. So I may have to mod a lift kit pack a little. My plan is to run either 285s or 315s eventually.
Any opinions and explain why you went the way you did. Thank you!
I went with Superlift's 5" kit on my excursion with bilstein shocks. Rides great, clears 35s and didn't brake the bank running about 1100 for complete kit with shocks delivered.
285s fit stock, should only need 2 inches of lift to fit 315s with the proper wheel backspacing. Might have to trim the bumper a tad. Cheap 1, 1.5, or 2 inch lift for the front is available for under $50 in the form of longer shackles. The rear a simple lift block swap is all that's needed if 2 inches is all that's needed.
I have 285s with the V/modded B springs. The rear came up over 3" I need to get the front up some more to be level. This mod will give a better ride and help with wander. If you will be towing, beef up the springs. There is tons of info on this board but contact Cary at CT Performance, he is a wealth of knowledge in this area. I spent months trying to decide what to do. If I would have listened to Cary from the beginning, I wouldn't be taking the front end back apart to add height.
