4.6 is no problem. Just need a good spark plug socket and extensions. The plug are a ways down in the hole. You might want to pick up a set of boots for the coils. Sometimes the boots tear if they've been in there a while.

It's the 04-06 5.4's that have the two piece plugs that break in half...... If that is what you were thinking of.

I'm in the process now of putting plugs and coilpacks on the Escape before it gets sold.

Yea you guessed it, the upper 1/2 of the intake manifold has to come off..

Looks like dust has been getting around the filter too, the intake runners are full of dirt and grit. I honestly can't believe the rings have survived and it's not smoking.

I wanted one before, now an AIS is definitely happening to the Truck.

No. I heard a guy say that the plugs in the 4.6 have a bad habit of rusting in place. I have never worked on a 4.6 before so i don't know anything about it.

Finally, winter has arrived at the fort. Not only is it cold, but we had snow flurries yesterday morning when I headed to work. Now if we could only get some drought buster rain/snow I'd be happy.

It was me! Got tired of the skeeters & gnats..figured it was time to freeze 'em to death. Since I haven't plugged the truck in...in the last six months (at least)...thought about driving it this morning to see if I have any cold start issues. But then I realized I like my neighbors and I haven't been shot at in a while....so the truck sat in the 19F and drove the Exploder.

Can't say I've replaced the plugs in the '94 before it was wrecked. But I'm like Scott, I remember hearing about several 5.4L and 6.8L splitting plugs or breaking them around the 100k mile mark.

I only have my 96 to go by. Plugs changed at 120K and had no difficulty.

I have a question for the 6.0 guys. A fella called the shop last night asking about a problem he has. He has dropped the fuel tank & cleaned it, changed the filters & oil. Taken it to the dealer & they said all was good. Its falling on it face/loosing power. The fella said he can pull a hill no problem but messes up on the down side.

Im lost as to what it might be but Im thinking something along the lines of injectors.

I know somewhere in the past I've ticked Mother Nature off. I'm getting sick & tired of beautiful weather during the week and cloudy rainy weather during the weekend. It wouldn't be so bad if we were getting drought buster rain out here at the fort.

Without pulling codes or doing a KOEO/KOER test...it could be a couple of things. IF it was injectors, it would/should act up while pulling; not while coasting. When he's pulling the hill...is that with or without a trailer? Heck, what year is the thing? Different years of the 6.0L have/had some specific things to look for. The only thing that jumps out is EGR valve is dirty or VGT vanes are sticking...but those are just shots in the dark.

I have decided that tinkering with the 6.0L ain't near as bad as understanding the Focus & it's 2.0L engine.

Don't guess you happened to swing by BK this weekend while they were doing their 55 cent Whopper deal?
