Injector cleaners are probably not warranted IMO. Additives are probably a good idea because the design of the engines was for a minimum cetane spec and the US is marginal in that area. Also, some additives do a good job of improving the fuel "lubricity" which is better for the injectors (who knows how much better though).
The other reasons for fuel additives (algae growth, water content treatment, corrosion prevention, fuel stabilization, gelling prevention, etc) depends on the quality of fuel in your area - again IMO.
Just be aware that Ford specifies you need a water DEmulsifier (not emulsifier). For this reason they say it should not contain alcohol.
I use a fuel additive every tank and feel that I get a more efficient combustion (ie less soot). I like Stanadyne, Diesel Kleen, and am trying an Archoil product (AR6200) right now.
I run Archoil 6200 in every tank, the engine is noticeably quieter on on start-up. It had some stiction when cold and that is gone now, although cold here is only 40*.

Stiction is caused by the oil side of the inector. Are you using an oil additive also?
I use dieselKleen every tank because it is easy to find and reasonably priced. I've had no egr issues and the truck runs great. Ford PM22A is also good and easy to find.
I know nothing about these additives but have ordered alot of stuff from XDP and on my 2nd order a year or so ago they talked me into there Fuel Additive & to be honest the truck seems to like it, has a great sales pitch on the bottle....IDK
Smallest bottle of Diesel Kleen does 40 gallons of fuel. The Diesel Fuel Supplement does the same until you get below 0 degrees, in which case it says to double the amount you use.
I've used Diesel Kleen at almost every fuel up since my truck was new. Never had any kind of a fuel system problem, though I've read of others having such problems. Maybe I'm just one of the lucky ones or maybe the Diesel Kleen is "the stuff". I dunno, but I aint changing nuthin in what I do as I don't want to jinx my success and happiness with my truck.
