Hill Descent/Advance Trac error messages

New Guy here.
I've had some errors show up multiple times since getting my new 2012 F-250 a couple of months ago: "Hill Descent Control Fault," or "Service Advance Trac."
Took it to the dealer two or three times and they replaced a couple of modules: one related to the RCM (whatever that is) , and one related to the ABS system.
Just got the messages again at a dead stop just after starting up.
I saw a thread here from last month about this same issue but no resolution was posted.
Does anyone have any ideas I can give the service techs when I take it back to the dealer next week?
Thanks!
Ed

PS, 2012 F-250, 6.7 L PowerStroke Diesel, Lariat Ultimate pkg, 4x4; only mod is a 50 gal extended range fuel tank.

Same exact messages happen to me this morning as soon as I turned the truck on in
my driveway. Not sure what to do except take it in to Ford dealer.

Long saga on my part.
In short my truck spent about 20 days in the shop in its first 6 months for this recurrent error.
It was seen by numerous techs and specialists sent in from the factory.
I finally gave up and through BBB, the truck was declared a lemon.
A new F-250 is in the works...
What concerns me about this error is that when the warning comes on the system deactivates the Advance Trak feature, disabling the skid control. This increases the risk for rollovers, something I am not willing to accept.
Hopefully your error will be easily remedied!

Ed

not to sound like an a**, but does a guy really need HDC or advance trac to safely operate your truck. If you're worried that you need those things to keep from getting in an accident maybe you shouldn't be driving in the first place. It's kinda like the TPMS to tell people who are too stupid to check their air pressure that they have a low tire. These "features" have really dumbed down drivers Lately. Ok, rant over.

I don't need them, just not sure how to clear the warning.

since it's under warranty take it back to the dealer. If the warranty is up and it does it, electrical tape over the light works good for me.

Factory warranty is done but I do have the extended warranty. Haven't looked
to see if this would be covered or not.

Hi Smoke2008,

What's your truck's model year/mileage? Have you made an appointment at the dealership yet? Keep us posted on your outcome.

I too am having problems with "Service AdvanceTrac" & "Hill Descent Fault" warnings. However, my back up camera is having several problems as well which seem to occur frequently with those errors. Going back to the dealership tomorrow for the 3rd time. Has anyone had this issue resolved? 2014 F250

Sorry....I can't be much help....I traded my SuperDuty for another truck....but I can tell you this issue caused drive ability issues....several times and Ford would not authorize the dealership to really anything....I was told Ford wants you to drive it more so it can brake down....before anything else will be some to it. I traded my truck in with less than 60k miles and it was only 17 months old. This problem with truck got only worse...left stranded ....and became unsafe to drive. I would recommend trading it in....keep us posted.

My 2012 f150 is at the dealership yet again, 2nd time in 2 weeks. 1st attempt was no issues found and can't replicate the problem, day and a half later my wife replicated it on the way home from work. Service advancetrak icon appears then truck dies... Power steering and brakes. It happened on straight always, turns, backing up, and it has dropped gear while in cruise control while I was doing 110 km/hr on the highway. It'll restart 10-20 minutes later. I too scared to take it back out on the road in the condition it's in. If anyone has had the same issues please let me know do I can run it across the dealership because they are baffled and I will not take the truck back with the solution.

Hi Casey,

Let me address your concerns; send me a private message with your VIN, odometer reading, full name, phone number and servicing dealer. I'll see how best to assist you then.

Thanks,

Mathieu

Casey, there are lots of similar threads on this site with this problem. Here's one: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...-errors-4.html

Here's a link to what seems to be the cure:https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/13...ont-start.html

Dealers seem to be unable to fix this problem. Maybe go to a real repair shop & have them look at the fix thread & check things out. That is, if you are not the do it yourself kind of guy.

Hill descent control fault/service advancetrac

I have the same problem with a 2011 F250 with less than 80k. Ford says no help, dealership says I need RCM and ABS module replaced, seems like Ford would provide goodwill assistance as the RCM would definitely be a safety concern, has anyone been able to repair this? Ford, are you listening and please help if you are... I've owned 7 Ford trucks... Just to clarify it a 2011 F250 6.7 Powerstroke
