Heads & camshaft is what decides it all.
Can't really make less than 500HP/500TQ
Power in the 600 & 700 range would be possible.
Bottom end with the main caps and steel rotating assemble is pretty much bullet proof.
Your heads used will determine the C/R, air flow.
Fuel used will determine C/R and camshaft.
HI Tim. Popa John here from Canada. Those blocks are SAWEEET!!! My 400 is just sitting until I get a waterpump for her. It is all togerther with all the good parts. ARP studs top and bottom, roller cam bushed 351C flat tops etc. Cam is a comp cams with .513 lift on both and a 224/230 duration. I am hoping for 375-390 hp and just stupid torque. John
just for interest sake people, there is a couple of brothers here in Australia that have redone a 351 cleveland block for the aftermarket. Better iron, thicker jackets and I believe an improved oiling system (i may be wrong on that one) 4 bolt mains etc. They tried to get rid of all the old cleveland probs. dont know how much so dont know how they compare with other blocks like Dart and World.
edit post found them. meant to mention they do a 427 stroker kit, as well as evry other cleveland part will retro fit. Not bad priced either considering aussie dollar

Reason: new info
I want to put in a good word for Tim here...he does great work. The heads I had him do look spectacular, and his tech support was great as well.
He took the time to use his personal phone and FaceTime with me to help me get my rocker arms shimmed.
It is guys like Tim we all need to support with our business when it comes time to purchase parts. In fact, I ended up sending back some of my parts hoard I had piled up that came from the big-name stores and I bought my parts form Tim. His prices were fair...he wins, I win, and I get personalized tech support.
X2 on Tim-helped me a lot on my 400 rebuild. Not a lot over here so anything other than a bog stock rebuild on the rotating assembly is the norm
It was cheaper to buy and ship a set to match my build than buy the stock-type parts here.
Also apologies, I hijacked that thread a little with something I thought was mildly pertinent and did not want to detract from Tims parts, knowledge or positive attitude in any way.
Only read about these blocks just the other day in the latest Aussie Street Machine, and good to finally see a late model improved block (not 40yrs old) that isnt based on the Windsor.
checkin out the iron. really like the splayed caps. how much does something like this cost. got me thinking about a project down the road. got some spare blocks to play with.
3450 aussie+frieght, but they also do stoker kits approx 2k aussie for them so the cost around 5.5k for a 427-434 cleveland stroker on a far better block. Freight could be a killer though. priority mains oiling and the potential to saimese the bores to go bigger a big thumbs up. About time this was done and you never know, if there is enough demand to the US it may put some pressure on the US based boys to start competing. Wouldnt hold my breath though. LOL
We normally build a block like this a couple times a year.
Lately we have had requests of about 3 in the last 3 months.
We were talking about offering a fully machined and ready to assemble bare block.
A quick guess off the top of my head would be about $1700.
Tim, Would it be worth checking if these guys did a tall deck 400 block? This would be the perfect start to a 400 project. If they did that you would have a march on the rest of the industry-you are already the man on these motors
We have been in contact with each other.
Currently they have a job keeping up with the sales they have over there.
An aftermarket 10.300" Cleveland block would be a beast.
One of our next goals is to weld in cylinder sleeves to achieve a 4.125" bore
and then a 4.500" stroke.
Yup, 480 Boss
