I am a new owner of a 1966 F100. The motor is a 302 replacement of 1980, however the C6 transmission needs work and is probably worse than I think. Berfore I start, I wanted to price a rebuilt to see if this may be the way to go since I plan to have this some time and do not want continuous problems with my w/e driver.
Is the C6 fine or since Im starting possible with a clean slate, a better choice (ie: OD ) I'm not building up the engine and want something dependable. Thanks
Scott, The 302 while a popular engine for lighter vehicles is not powerful, (that isn't all bad either) the AOD Automatic Over Drive from the 90s after some improvements were made will get you some much needed mpgs that these ol rolling brickbats don't have much of.
Dave $450.00 is a darn good price and must include some owner input, I believe that overhaul at a shop was about $600.00 here 10 years ago when I got mine done.
