So what's everyone's opinions on the best after market heads for a healthy FE motor? Who's got the best bang for the buck?

One tip Iron heads for engine longevity. Aluminum heads keep Auto repair shop in business.
If your going to be racing the motor where as you'll always pulling the motor down then I'd maybe go with the Aluminum heads But Aluminum heads need work to make them great.
Not cheap..orich

X2 ^^
If they're staying in you truck there is no reason for aluminum.
They flow pretty good already.
Spend the money on intake, outflow and cam.

Snider Cam, eddyjunk intake, holly street avenger 770, headman hedders open half the time dual glass package when not open.
Heads are the next step for this motor before I go all out with a stroker motor. I'm just spend a ton on some iron heads when in the end its gonna cost about the same as buying some good aluminum ones.

I don't think you'll spend a "ton" on iron heads. I just did a set and spent a few hundred.
But it sounds like you know what you want already. All good.
What are you going to do with the truck?
Is it a daily driver or weekend fun? Is it your only car?
It's hard to give you an opinion without knowing some info on it. Otherwise we just give you opinions on what applies to us not you.

For the last 20 years its been the stand by when whatever other pile of junk I own dies but now idk its pretty much a take it out for a hell ride here & their a trip through the mud pit once in a while. I have plans to go ahead & stroke it next time it comes out for a rebuild but that's a ways down the road yet. It's only got about 10K on it now & has plenty of power but a few more ponies under the hood isn't gonna hurt my feelings any.

Hah, yeah a few more ponies is always good.
I'm gonna stick with my opinion on iron heads. Weight isn't important in most trucks and they're tough as hell.

get a quote on the work you want done to iron heads , most places come in at $1500+ for full port job +rebuild+large valves
almost dollar for dollar as the performer rpm heads .

These have hardened valve seats so you can save money not having to install them in older heads. If they are in decent shape.

If you shop around you might find a set of CJ heads cheaper than that.

That's part of my problem. If I find CJ or anything 428 parts related they want more than I feel their worth.

If your in no hurry I have seen them on e-bay for less than a grand. Valve job and hardened seats should get you in under that 1500 price.

The heads on the motor already have a valve job & hardened seats. This motor has maybe 10K/11K on it now. I want to increase more HP so that's why I ask which heads are going to do that.
