if you can find someone who is against scrapping old vehicles more than me you just found a non existing person. Of course I'm glad that ricers get scrapped though, makes me smile.
what granny trannys were offered in 77 and what transfer cases were offered in 77 for the f250s
The NP-435 were the most common 4 speed then and the NP-205 were the part time T-Cases and the NP-203 were the full time. I believe that the NP-205 were the most common T-Case.
Eh, I think $600 is fair. You have a lot of work ahead of you to harvest the parts, but you won't lose on the deal. Now to keep your eyes out for a carcass to put all those parts in.
Kinda a funny thing, I'm 15, December 18th is my16th birthday. I got my first truck on dec27th and got my learner a permit on dec29th of 2011. D
Bought my first truck for 700$ did LITERALLY NOTHING but wash it and sold it or 1400$, bought my 76 for 1500$(I had 400 extra before selling my red truck), put about 400 into that blue truck and traded it off for my current red truck which inronically is the same thing as my first truck but a 300 not a 302 and shortened not Longbed. I've spent 400$ on this truck(bro has other 200) and I'm still 15, still not able to drive my own truck. All in all I have 1700ish in 4 trucks lol
I'm not gonna lie to you, I didn't even look at the underbody. I saw the u joint was snapped and that's about it but I mostly didn't look be ause don't judge me or this, but there was ants, and I'm allergic to ants. Plus the parts of the frame I did see weren't even rusted. Just for reference, what obvious visual differences is there? I know what a 205 looks like(my grandpa praises them) but I don't know anything about a 203
the underbody from what i saw was beautiful for its age, didn't notice if it was divorced or not, truck looks like its in worse shape that it really is, and it was my friend who we bought it off of, his first truck ad he looked ilk he was about to cry soon as his dad agreed on 600, but we should be able to gett the axle in place and ready to rock in a couple hours, but we will see

I was similar to you. Got my first truck when I was 13, A '78 F250 from my dad that I ended up parting out (still have the whole front clip), bought my '79 (which I paid $600 for; same price you're getting that for) when I was 14 and a half, sat until the summer I was 15 to get the engine replaced, and stayed whole until this last summer when I was 16. Now, it's in more than a few pieces
Good luck with the truck. Looks like you have a busy road ahead of you.
Look under the front of the truck. Does it look like someone put a 2"x2" piece of square tube in between the frame rails? That was on highboys. The later frames didn't have that. A divorced t-case uses a 2wd transmission and the T-case is mounted mid-truck and uses three driveshafts. Another clue is an in-cab fuel tank. the later trucks have it mounted behind the rear under the bed.
Those are the obvious things to look for. Someone else can tell you what VIN to look for. The earlier VIN's are highboys. The later VIN's are the '78-9 frames.

When you say In cab does that mean only the highboys had In cab has tanks in 77 or what? I read up somewhere that my 76 f150(which is the reason I bought this truck),was the last year of the In cab gas tanks. Also last might I got a dude to send me a picture of his 77 highboys T case from his Craigslist add, I can visually see a massive difference from it and the 205 so once I look ill be able o tell you. Does the mid truck tcase offer any advantages over the "normal"(205) placement?and I found an ad on Craigslist, 1975 ford f350 front bumper, grille and bug delector
Is it a good deal? I asked him about it and he said its in very good shape.
Looks like a late 77 to me from the pics. It doesnt seem to sit up as tall as a highboy & it would not need lift blocks on the front end to clear those puny tires & if they did there would be a HUGE gap! It looks to have lock-outs so it likely has a np 205 transfer if its a late 77. A np 203 is A chain driven full tine 4x4 case & doesnt use lock-outs...It's not a long wheel base frame? Are u sure? A f250 would have a long bed

I'd say it's a fair deal, but are they ford parts or aftermarket? I'd prefer good used ford parts or NOS over an aftermarket bumper that's gonna rust in a year. The same front bumper was used from the 60's-77. Should be easy to find used. You can get a grille from a 73/77
Decided I'm not getting that stuff from the guy instead I'm getting a grille from my friends 79(the orginal grille from 79) and he's got 1 headlight bezel I just need the other square one. It's bet a bit but its a complete grille. My dad said he would help us build the bumper so if the same accident happens the truck itself ain't gonna be breaking. Same with The rear. And just so ya know, as is the truck was clearing 38s when he bought it, they were just dry rotted.
We picked it up yesterday but forgot the keys, he said hell give them to his son I give to me on Monday at school though. I looked and its the same as the transfer case as on this highboy for sale on Craigslist(also a 77). It has a tcase shift **** that says 4L N 2H 4H though, so I dunno.
