Hi all i am wanting to lower my f350 1957 i am keeping the beam axle but i am thinking of having new spring made all round reverse eye ones.But like mine has 10 leafs i was going to have a couple of strong springs instead of the 10.They do on the LDV 2.5 ton trucks over here were this truck only has one main spring.Anyway my question is i will take my old springs to the people that make springs and have reverse eye springs made.Now how do i measure the size that i want will the spring company no how to measure with them having my old springs.I am going to flip the axle as well.Well i would like to. Hope you no what i am trying to ask.I am asking as much as possible before i start.

 

Wouldn't flipping the axle make the truck higher?

 

The way that reversed eye's are done is they re-arch the main leaf so it has the arch in the opposite direction. Don't expect much of a drop. Putting the (front) axle on top of the leaf pack will necessitate other steering link modifications.

Hi i thought flipping the axle lifts the axle higher up the wheel arch so it lowers the body.I understand there will be more work on the steering ,steering box, pitman arm,i want to no how do you measure a reverse spring can the people who will make my new springs work it out from my old springs

 

Plus take a look at the front spring stops. They only have 2-3 inches from bottoming out on most of those old trucks already so you can't drop it much or it will be banging the snubbers.

 

Hi i no there not much of a gap so i would have the chassis notched.

 

The 'eye' would be on the bottom of the leaf instead of where it is now. Maybe an inch to inch and a half difference.
